My name is Caterina, and I have been a Pastry Chef for over 20 years. I have had the great opportunity to study under some of the world’s greatest pastry Masters, such as Roland Mesnier, Ewald & Susan Notter and Nick Lodge.


I guess I have always been a “foodie”….way before it came into fashion, and way before there was even a name for it. This love of food is a part of me, something that defines me, something I can’t live without…some people call that passion.


If you were to ask me why I love food, I would say, that food is the most basic of things that brings people together. It helps us to understand each other in a world where understanding may not always seem possible. Understanding gives rise to tolerance and tolerance paves the way for respect. Food comes from the heart, and I believe that an offering of food is the sincerest form of love.

A great BLOG to inform foodies, novices, as well as chefs.

Caterina doesn't just limit herself to her expertise in pastry. She has become well versed on the savory side with special and interesting stories about origins of culinary ingredients, culinary customs from around the world, and just a whole bunch of stuff that will make you go "Wow, I did not know that!"

Memories

I have enjoyed trying the many diverse recipes on the Good Food Gourmet website, but I remember fondly the most spectacular cake I've had to date from its originator, Caterina Borg. She called it "The Bomb" and it WAS! And have you tried her almond cookies? One bite and I'm taken back to the Italian bakery just below my Grandfather's home in Italy and the trays of almond cookies baked each day, or my father's kitchen where he still produces phenomenal almond cookies for special occasions. Caterina's cookies are that good. Many chefs bring their talent to the kitchen, but Caterina brings passion to every morsel of food she creates, truly as if it were the last meal you would eat and it had to be perfection! I marvel at her talent!

This is definitely "HAPPY and BEAUTIFUL" Good Food Gourmet! I've been extremely lucky to have had the opportunity to taste her innovative and delightful dishes! They go beyond delectable and scrumptious – I am always so happy to read her stories and recipe ideas. The best thing of all: Caterina is truly a beautiful foodie with a winner blog!!
